Overview

Commercial Truck Equipment Co. is looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Coordinator to join its team. This is an in-person, full-time permanent position suited towards a technically savvy junior marketing generalist with some experience and/or formal training under their belt. This position provides a significant opportunity for advancement, career growth, and learning and will provide comprehensive immersion for an aspiring marketing professional.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will help support the development and growth of multiple Commercial brands and their marketing efforts across print, web, trade shows, events, conventions, and both traditional and social media. The Marketing department also centrally supports all coast-to-coast branches with branding, advertising, design, promotional items, apparel, and more, and the Marketing Coordinator will help provide support and solutions for all internal stakeholders in these areas. The Marketing Coordinator will also have the unique opportunity to work directly alongside Commercial’s senior leadership team, interfacing with the President, GM, and CFO on a continuous basis.

The successful candidate will ideally have 2+ years of full-time experience working in other marketing and/or communications capacities. A candidate comfortable in most of Creative Suite would be ideal, and some exposure to WordPress, organic social media management, advertising, and event planning would help a candidate stand out. Applicants should have some experience and/or training in writing for advertising, social, communications, or the web.

Responsibilities

  • Organic social media. Maintain an editorial calendar, curate and create content, engage with stakeholders, amplify partner messaging, and grow brand following.
  • Writing and communications. Help craft and deploy blog posts, social media content, media releases, corporate communications, advertising copy, and web content.
  • Event planning, support, and management. Assist in sales support across print materials, promo items, sponsorships, displays, and banners needed for events, as well as logistics including registration, flights, hotels, and vehicle transportation. Proactively manage an annual event schedule and ensure Commercial’s presence is secured at key events.
  • General web administration. Help ensure Commercial’s websites and owned properties such as Google Business are updated and current.
  • Maintain an editorial advertising calendar, pitch and create content for publications and placements across multiple media. Help monitor and maintain advertising campaigns.
  • Collateral, apparel, and swag. Maintain stock levels of necessary promotional and swag items. Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and printers. Obtain quotes, design, proof, and order items. Support the Parts and Supply Chain departments in maintaining stock levels for inventoried items.
  • Internal communications support. Solicit, update, and create content for the company intranet including business, employee, and industry news.
  • Support HR recruitment, retention, and transition. Plan and execute internal events such as holiday and staff parties. Assist in onboarding with office moves, setup, and promotional items.
  • Basic finance/accounting for the Marketing department, such as paying/posting invoices and allocating costs to jobs/offices.
  • Occasional administrative support. Our office is a lean team, and the Marketing Coordinator should be comfortable and willing to fill-in on some administrative office functions (such as answering phones or item pickup) in relief of primary office support staff for sick-days and emergencies, as well as help prepare for guest and VIP visits.
  • Other duties as assigned. The Commercial marketing department supports a variety of different business unit across multiple brands and branches.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a full-time marketing role at the intern or coordinator level is preferable. Self-employment or other marketing immersion would certainly be considered.
  • Higher education in Marketing, New Media, Communications, Design, Business, Graphic Design, or a solid combination of junior-level experience and industry knowledge is desired.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Thorough knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and O365 including SharePoint and OneDrive is required.
  • General graphic and print layout knowledge. The successful candidate will have an understanding of image formats, color spaces, resolution, and common practices in the design world.
  • Introductory-or-better level ability in Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience in web design, audio, and video editing is considered an asset.
  • Some writing and communications ability. Knowledge of CP style, experience writing blog posts, articles, web copy, media releases, advertising copy, social media posts would be an asset.
  • Willing to travel occasionally throughout Canada to support trade shows and events (~10-15 days/year post-pandemic).
  • A class 5 drivers’ licence may be important to support events and other job duties.
  • Basic mechanical, automotive, and/or heavy equipment knowledge is not required but is considered an asset. If you know the difference between an axle and a drive shaft, you’re ahead of the game.
